Cambridge/Blossom Street
Working Group: Building a bridge of progress
In an effort to build a bridge of communication between the MGH and the surrounding community during the construction of the new Yawkey Center, the MGH has created a working group to focus on bringing neighboring communities the latest and most up-to-date information about the progress of ongoing construction projects. The Cambridge/Blossom Street Working Group is addressing issues of mutual interest to the MGH and to the Beacon Hill and West End communities, including traffic and development concerns. The group, which currently consists of 32 members, meets regularly and includes representation from the Beacon Hill Association, Beacon Hill Civic Association, West End Civic Association, Hawthorne Place and the Boston Transportation Department. The areas of interest that are being discussed include the MGH Senior HealthWISE program, traffic and circulation improvements, street widening, traffic signage, MGH shuttle bus operations, West End pedestrian circulation and alternative access routes to and from the hospital. The committee also is addressing issues such as the Blossom Street landscape plan, the MGH institutional master plan, and the future of both the North Anderson Street park and the site where Buzzy's Roast Beef restaurant was located. |
