Medical music:
Partners Night at the Pops Great minds both in music and medicine
joined together at Boston's Symphony Hall July 13 for the fourth annual "Partners
Night at the Pops: A Celebration in Honor of our Physicians." Partners physicians and
guests comprised an audience of more than 2,000 music lovers who took in the sounds of the
Boston Pops, the band Marachi Cobre and swing dance and Latin music performers. The
highlight of the evening came in the form of 15 Partners physicians and their guests
participating in the inaugural "Physician Swing Dance Contest," judged by a
panel that included Jeanette Ives Erickson, RN, MS, senior vice president for MGH Patient
Care Services and chief nurse. After all 15 contestants were declared winners, they joined
Samuel O. Thier, MD, president and CEO of Partners, on the dance floor for a fitting end
to a memorable evening.
