Applications for Support Service Grant program
The MGH Diversity Committee, chaired by James J. Mongan, MD, president of the MGH, is pleased to announce that the Support Service Employees Grant program is accepting applications. The program was developed to help employees fulfill career goals by improving current job performance or advancing into other positions. In addition to financial assistance, grant recipients receive individualized support from a designated mentor. To apply, an employee must have worked at the MGH for at least two years in a support service position, be benefits-eligible and in good standing. Applications are due Aug. 10. Design and conduct of clinical trials course
The Education Unit of the Clinical Research Program (CRP) in collaboration with the MGH Cancer Center, will offer an intensive course, "Design and Conduct of Clinical Trials," twice weekly during September and October from 5 to 6:30 pm. The goals of the course are to survey the theory and practice of clinical trials, to review design and conduct of clinical research, and to enable participants to conceive, plan, propose and develop effective clinical trials. This course is ideally suited to second-year fellows and junior faculty pursuing clinical research. A $50 course registration fee is required. Cancer Center program
The Cancer Center Patient and Family Support Program will be offering a seminar, "Parenting in Challenging Times: Drop-in Support Group for Parents" July 27, 11 am to noon. Paula Rauch, MD, will facilitate the group in the Cancer Resource Room, Cox 1. Rev. Michael McElhinny, will lead a program "Spirituality: Faith, Why Me?" also July 27, 12 to 1 pm. Quit smoking program
The MGH Quit Smoking Service will offer a program beginning Aug. 10, 5:30 pm, and will meet every Tuesday for eight weeks. Topics include information about nicotine replacement and Zyban, preparing to quit, coping with stress without cigarettes, and preventing weight gain and relapse. MGH Imaging - Chelsea extended hours
MGH Imaging-Chelsea, a community-based CT Scanner, located at 100 Everett Ave., Chelsea, has extended evening hours until 9 pm, Monday through Friday. Saturday hours are from 8 am to 4 pm.To schedule a patient or for more information, call (617) 884-1199.
