The art of teamwork: PACE members exercise their creativity

Since the launch of the Patient Administrative Cycle Enhancements (PACE) project in February, PACE teams have been working diligently to design the framework of what will be a comprehensive redesign of the hospital's patient administration process. PACE team members recently took a break from their usual planning meetings to exercise their creativity

in a half-day art workshop held July 11 at CNY.

The interactive workshop, which was conducted by a nonprofit art therapy organization called RAW Art Works, brought together more than 60 PACE team members and administrators to creatively collaborate on large pieces of art that will eventually be displayed in the new PACE contact center. According to Nancy Gagliano, MD, one of the PACE sponsors, the workshop was meant to give team members an opportunity to reflect on the PACE project, discuss its progress, recognize each other's contributions to PACE and have some fun along the way.

Deirdre O'Connor, PACE communications coordinator, adds that the workshop reaffirmed the importance of teamwork and open communication. "I think everyone involved learned a lot about each other as we had fun completing the art projects," says O'Connor.

A reward and recognition luncheon, hosted by the PACE sponsors, also was held to congratulate the teams on their hard work for the project.
