MGHers give blood, save lives The MGH Blood Donor Center offered a free ice cream sundae buffet to all employees who donated blood or platelets July 3 and 5. Donors also received free T-shirts that will continue to be given to donors until the fall. According to Kim Cronin of the MGH Blood Donor Center, the number of blood donations tends to decrease during the summer. The Fourth of July holiday can be a particularly difficult time to get enough donations to maintain the hospital's blood supply making the generosity of employees and outside donors even more crucial. All donors who gave blood July 3 and 5 will be eligible to donate again Aug. 31 just in time for the MGH Employee Blood Donor Appreciation Weeks. The Appreciation Weeks will be Aug. 19 through Sept. 6 and will feature many events including special food treats, free massages and other activities. The Blood Donor Center is located in the Gray Lobby. For more information, call (617) 726-8177.
