MGH Police and Security gives
back to community In keeping with the tradition of reaching out to community youth programs, the MGH recently provided equipment and expertise to educate teenagers about important life-saving skills. With all the necessary equipment provided by MGH Police and Security, Officer Dave Marquez volunteered his time to go to the Middlesex Boys and Girls Club of Somerville to teach a CPR course to local teenagers. Former members of the Boys and Girls Club, the teenagers are the Club's newest employees and will provide both supervision and mentoring to younger members. Before they could begin work, however, they had to be certified in CPR.
Marquez instructed the students on the basics of CPR, the Heimlich maneuver and using the 911 emergency response system. "We all can benefit from the knowledge these kids now carry with them. These teenagers now can save someone's life, and that makes me feel good," says Marquez. |
