Carter R. Rowe, MD, of MGH Orthopædics, died June 25 at the age of 94. He leaves behind his wife Mary, three sons and four grandchildren.

Rowe treated patients for 45 years as an assistant, visiting and senior orthopædic surgeon at the MGH. He taught at Harvard Medical School and authored a book, Lest We Forget, about the tradition and success of the MGH Orthopædics service. Rowe also served as president of the American Orthopædic Association and the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons.
