  • Update on parking alternatives for DNC
Many of the questions that MGH employees, patients and visitors are asking regarding the upcoming Democratic National Convention (DNC) — to be held July 26 to 29 at the Fleet Center — are related to parking issues. Here are some answers to these questions.
  • Ten years strong ... and growing
The MGH recently celebrated a milestone with the 10th anniversary of the MGH Vincent Obstetrics program, June 17. The celebration marked the anniversary of the 1994 reintroduction of obstetrics to the MGH and honored the interdisciplinary team of doctors, nurses and staff who make up the program.
  • MGH Cancer Center shares awareness about men's cancer
MGH patients, staff and visitors were offered cancer awareness information at the Men's Cancer Awareness Fair June 18 in the Main Corridor. Hosted by the MGH Cancer Center, the four-hour event was well attended, allowing passersby to read posters, gather informational pamphlets and talk to clinicians.
  • Keeping kids safe this summer
More than 200 children and their families participated in the MGH Chelsea HealthCare Center's annual "Safety on Wheels, Safety in Summer" family safety fair and bike rodeo June 19. A safety check station for bikes and helmets was set up to ensure that each child was riding the proper type of bike and wearing the appropriate size helmet.
  • Making a difference the MGH way
Many MGHers make a difference every day in the work they do, and a select group of these employees recently were recognized at a reception June 7 in the Trustees Room to celebrate the achievements of the 2004 recipients of the Making a Difference grant program. The program offers awards of up to $5,000 and one special award of $10,000 to support employees' ideas for improving the quality of service provided to patients, families and fellow MGHers.
