McGovern Memorial Golf Tournament
The Atrial Fibrillation Foundation will host a golf tournament Sept. 16 in memory of its founder, Brian A. McGovern, MD. McGovern served as the co-director of the MGH Cardiac Arrhythmia Service until his untimely death. The tournament will be held at the Nicklaus Course at the Pinehills Golf Club in Plymouth, Mass. The Brian McGovern, MD, Clinical Excellence Award
Nominations for the McGovern Clinical Excellence Award are due June 15. The award will recognize a physician who makes the MGH an outstanding place to work and receive care. Family Summer Safety Fair
The MGH Chelsea HealthCare Center will host a Family Summer Safety Fair and Bike Rodeo June 19, from noon to 3 pm, at the MGH Chelsea HealthCare Center, 151 Everett Ave. in Chelsea. The fair will feature home, water, fire, sun and car safety tips, bike and helmet decorating, as well as entertainment by George the DJ and McGruff the Crime Dog. Participants are encouraged to bring their bikes and helmets for safety checks. The rain date is June 26. For more information, call (617) 889-8535.

MGH Vincent Obstetrics anniversary celebration
The MGH Vincent Obstetrics program will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a birthday party June 17, from noon to 2:30 pm under the Bulfinch Tent. A poster session and information booths also will be on display from noon to 4 pm under the tent. The entire MGH community is welcome to attend.

Nursing Career Coaching Program
The Nursing Career Coaching Program at the MGH will host a seminar, "Getting Started in a Nursing Career," June 16, from 3 to 4 pm in the Clinics Lower Amphitheatre. A representative from the Boston Private Industry Council will provide an overview about understanding the role and activities of nurses in entry-level positions for nursing, licensing and school requirements. Urgent need for blood
Because blood supplies are much lower than in the past, the MGH Blood Donor Center is in vital need of blood and platelet donors for all blood types. It is important for the MGH to increase the hospital's blood supply before the Democratic National Convention when transportation for donors and the bloodmobile might be more difficult. Blood donations can be made in the Blood Donor Center Monday and Wednesday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, and Tuesday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Platelet donations are taken Monday through Thursday, 8:30 am to 5 pm, and Fridays, 8:30 am to 3 pm. For more information, call (617) 726-8177.

Men's Cancer Awareness Fair
The MGH Cancer Center will host the Men's Cancer Awareness Fair June 18, from 10 am to 2 pm in the Main Corridor. Participants can learn about early detection, prevention and treatment of the most common cancers affecting men. For more information, contact Tara Becker at (617) 724-9432.
