Support service grant
The Support Service Employees Grant Program now is accepting applications from MGH support service employees who are interested in furthering their education. The program was developed to help employees fulfill their career goals while improving current job performance. The competitive grant program is available to all support service employees who have worked at the MGH for at least two years, are benefits eligible and are in good standing. Applications are available at Human Resources locations on White 14, at 75 Blossom Court and CNY 7. Application deadline is June 26 for financial assistance for the fall 2002 and spring 2003 semesters. Summer computer training
The Summer Computer Workshop training schedule for Microsoft Office applications now is available. Meditation for stress reduction
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) will sponsor a work/life seminar, "Meditation for Stress Reduction," June 13, from noon to 1 pm in the Wellman Conference Room. The seminar will outline the basics of meditation and provide an explanation of its short-term and cumulative benefits. Participants will have the opportunity to participate in a meditation exercise. Fleet offers free checking
Fleet Bank now is offering MGH employees free checking with their special Fleet Workplace Banking membership. A no-monthly-fee checking account is available when MGHers sign up for direct deposit. CRP seminar
The Clinical Research Program is sponsoring "Protecting Vulnerable Populations in Clinical Research" June 12, from 11:45 am to 1 pm in the Wellman 101 Conference Room. Alison M. Friedmann, MD, of the Pediatric Hematology Oncology Unit, will discuss the issues that affect conducting clinical research on vulnerable populations and the measures that should be in place to provide extra protection for the cognitively impaired, children, employees and others in this group. The lecture qualifies for 1.2 contact hours for registered nurses. For more information, call (617) 726-1669.
