Reception honors women faculty at the MGH The MGH Office for Women's Careers (OWC) hosted its fifth annual women faculty reception May 23 in the Trustees Room. The event is meant to honor women faculty who have made significant career accomplishments throughout the year. The attendees were treated to an afternoon of food, beverages, the company of colleagues and celebratory remarks from MGH leaders.
Women faculty celebrating their success. The OWC, under the direction of Nancy J. Tarbell, MD, and Rebecca Starr, program manager, is a hospitalwide resource for women physicians and scientists with Harvard Medical School faculty appointments. In addition to helping to increase the number of women faculty promoted based on academic criteria, the OWC strives to facilitate the overall career accomplishments of women faculty. Also attending the reception were some recipients of the 2002 Claflin Awards, an award that provides funding to junior faculty members during the child-rearing years. A highlight of the reception was the presentation of a special tribute book that Rebecca Starr and the OWC staff created. The tribute book lists women faculty who have been promoted and have had distinguished career achievements during the year. |
