Gail Harris, (right), television journalist and creator
of Body & Soul, a new 13-week PBS series about holistic health
and spirituality, moderated the third annual conference for cancer patients,
survivors, their families, partners and friends May 8. Sponsored by the
Network for Patients and Families of the MGH Cancer Center, the conference
focused on enhancing the quality of life for cancer patients after their
treatment.
Jeffrey Clark, MD, of the MGH Hematology/Oncology Unit and Herbert Benson, MD, director of the Mind/Body Medical Institute at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, were guest speakers, and a panel of professionals and cancer survivors discussed the stages of survivorship, as well as factors and resources that can enhance the quality of life for cancer survivors.
