Take on Parenting Difficult Kids
The Employee Assistance Program will sponsor "A New Take on Parenting Difficult
Kids," a seminar about dealing with children and adolescents who are easily
frustrated and have a difficult time adapting to change, May 18, noon to 1 pm in the
Wellman Conference Room. Ross Greene, PhD, of MGH Psychiatry, will present the seminar.

MGPO
forum series
The Massachusetts
General Physicians Organization (MGPO) will begin a forum series with
a presentation by James J. Mongan, MD, president of the MGH, about "Markets
and Managed Care — The Road to the Future or a Wrong Turn?"
The forum will be held May 15, 5 to 6 pm in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. Refreshments
will be served.
Substance abuse assessment seminar
The Center for Clinical and Professional Development and West End Clinic Addiction
Services will sponsor "Substance Abuse: Withdrawal in the Acute Care Setting,"
May 22, 8 am to 4:30 pm in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. This program will help clinicians
develop and enrich skills in the assessment and care of general medical-surgical patients
who are withdrawing from drugs or alcohol. To register, call 6-3111.

Helen
Doherty, RD, FMP, director of Nutrition and Food Services,
along with other MGHers, will appear on "The Ainsley Harriott Show," which airs
locally on WHDH-TV Ch. 7, May 15, 11 am.
Bone marrow donor
drive
The MGH Bone Marrow
Transplant Program will host a bone marrow donor drive for all MGH employees, May 25,
from 10 am to 3 pm in the lobby by the MGH Blood Donor Center on Gray 1. Two tubes of
blood will be tested and the blood antigens will be forwarded to the National Marrow Donor

The MGH Backup
Childcare Center June vacation camps
Registration for June vacation camps at the MGH
Backup Childcare Center will be held May 17, beginning at 8 am. Camps run June 19
through 23 and June 26 through 30. Campers must be between the ages of 6 (completed
kindergarten) and 12 years. Tuition for each camp is $200. Activities will include trips,
games and visits from various groups. To register, call 4-8414.
Women's health
luncheon
The North End
Community Health Center and the MGH Community Health Associates will sponsor a women's
health luncheon, May 24, noon to 2 pm at the North End Community Health Center, 332
Hanover St., Boston. Annekathryn Goodman, MD, of the Gillette Center for Women's Cancers
at the MGH, will speak about hormone replacement therapy and its impact on cancer risk.
Information about osteoporosis, nutrition, breast and cervical cancer, hormone replacement
therapy and coronary heart disease will be available. Seating is limited. To register,

Genomics Approaches
to Common Diseases Series
The Clinical Research Program
(CRP) will sponsor "The Continued Power of the Mouse," May 23, 4 to 5 pm in
the O'Keeffe Auditorium. Karen Moore, PhD, CSO, of Hypnion Inc., will discuss how the
mouse can be used to study novel therapeutic interventions for human disease. The talk
will continue with the discussion of the future of mouse genetics in the

CNY Finance open
house
Partners Finance will host an open house, May 18 at CNY, Building 149, 4 to 7 pm. This is
an opportunity for employees to learn about current openings for non-exempt positions.
