Bike to Work Week
In recognition of National Bike to Work Week, May 12 to 18, MGH participants will ride their bikes to City Hall Plaza May 17 for a citywide celebration, from 8 to 10 am. For registration information, contact the Commuter Service Office at (617) 724-6588 or register at www.bostonbikeweek.com.

Effective communication seminar
The MGH Employee Assistance Program (EAP) will sponsor a Work/Life seminar, "Effective Communication in the Workplace," May 9, from noon to 1 pm in the Wellman Conference Room. The seminar will focus on different styles of communication. For more information, contact the EAP at (617) 726-6976.

MGPO lecture
The Massachusetts General Physicians Organization (MGPO) will hold its second lecture in its series called "Advances in Genetics and Technology: What Will They Mean for Your Patients?" This lecture, on medical imaging and tissue engineering, will be held May 9, from 5 to 6:30 pm in the Bigelow Amphitheater (White 418). Tom Brady, MD, of the Center for the Integration of Medicine and Innovative Technology, and Jay Vacanti, MD, of Pediatric Surgery, are the speakers. CME Category 1 credits will be offered. Memorial service
A memorial service for Ronnie Heitman, a longtime MGH Radiology employee, will be held May 14 at 1 pm in the MGH Chapel on Ellison 1. Heitman died March 7. For more information, call (617) 726-8396.

Ascension Thursday mass
In observance of the Roman Catholic Holy Day of Obligation, May 9, there will be two masses held at 11 am and 4 pm in the MGH Chapel on Ellison 1. For more information, call the MGH Chaplaincy at (617) 726-2220.

Breast cancer research nurse award
The MGH Gillette Center for Women’s Cancers and the MGH Breast Cancer Clinical Research Department now are accepting nominations for the Clinical Breast Cancer Research Nurse Award. Eligible candidates should have a bachelor’s or a master’s degree in nursing with an interest in breast cancer clinical research. All interested candidates should submit their resume or CV by e-mail to Karleen R. Habin, RN, at khabin@partners.org by May 13.

Grant writing seminars
The Clinical Research Program is sponsoring a two-part seminar series about grant writing, May 14 and 29, from 4 to 5 pm in the O’Keeffe Auditorium. These lectures will focus on grant preparation for clinical investigators, emphasizing strategies in the review process that will secure funding opportunities.
