Darin Dougherty, MD, and Bethany Teachman, MS, MPhil, both of MGH Psychiatry, received awards from the Anxiety Disorders Association of America (ADAA) in March. Dougherty was awarded the Career Development Travel Award, and Teachman received the Trainee Travel Award. Jay A. Fishman, MD, director of the Transplant Infectious Disease Program, and Nina E. Tolkoff Rubin, MD, of the MGH Renal Unit, have been awarded the Fujisawa Clinical Science Award from the American Society of Transplantation. This award recognizes distinguished careers as clinician investigators in the field of organ transplantation. In addition, Joren C. Madsen, MD, of MGH Surgery, was awarded the Fujisawa Basic Science Award in recognition of his contributions in the field of transplantation-related research. Elizabeth Hohmann, MD, of the MGH Infectious Disease Unit and director of the Partners institutional review board (IRB), has been named the recipient of the 2001 GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Development Partners' Junior Faculty Award. This award supports the development of junior faculty members who are committed to clinical research. Giuseppe R. Nigri, MD, PhD, of MGH Surgery, has been recognized by the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery for submitting the best resident research paper in the PDT/Oncology session at the organization's annual meeting. Steven R. Smith, PhD, of MGH Psychiatry, received the Walter Klopfer Award given annually by the Society for Personality Assessment at its annual conference. The award is given for the best empirically based research paper published in the Journal of Personality Assessment in the preceding year. Smith, who specializes in clinical psychological assessment and research, works in the MGH Psychology Assessment Center. |
