Managing the Menopause Patient in 2003
The MGH Women's Health Coordinating Council and Patient Care Services are sponsoring "Managing the Menopause Patient in 2003: A Practical Approach" May 7, from 5 to 7:30 pm in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. The program is open to any clinician interested in learning a practical approach to managing menopause. A light dinner will be served during the program. PeopleSoft financial module upgrade
The PeopleSoft financial modules — including Accounts Payable, Asset Management, General Ledger, Inventory and Purchasing — will be upgraded in May to web-based version 8.4. This upgrade will affect those who use PeopleSoft on-line displays or on-line ordering. From May 15 at 4 pm through May 18, the PeopleSoft financial systems will not be available for regular use. The new version will be available May 19. Training is necessary for all current on-line system users. To register for an open house session or request instructions, contact Liz Torres at

PACE open house
The final PACE open house session has been rescheduled for April 30, from 2 to 5 pm in the Bulfinch tent. Staff members who have not attended a previous session are encouraged to attend for important basic information about the PACE project. Partners in Excellence Awards online nominations
The Partners in Excellence Awards web nomination period has been expanded to allow nominations to be submitted throughout the year. All online nominations submitted during the spring and summer will be reviewed during October when the selection committee meets. Only individuals employed by the institution during the time of selection will be considered for an award. The annual Partners in Excellence Awards ceremony will be held in December. Senior HealthWISE seminar
The MGH Senior HealthWISE education seminar program will offer "Spring into Easy Cooking" April 28, from 4 to 5 pm in the East Garden Dining Room. Join Helen Doherty, RD, MFP, and Susan Barraclough, MS, RD, of MGH Food and Nutrition Services, for a live cooking demonstration. For more information, call (617) 724-6756.

Summer job programs
Part-time summer help is available for all MGH departments this year through two MGH Community Benefits programs. SummerWorks 2003 is a career exploration and internship program for graduating eighth graders from the James P. Timilty Middle School. SummerWorks combines weekly interactive professional development workshops with real work experience. Students spend 25 hours per week at the hospital from June 23 through Aug 8. The Jobs for Boston Youth program provides SummerWorks program alumni and students from East Boston High School with job opportunities at the MGH as well. Students spend 25 hours per week at the hospital from July through August. For more information, call (617) 724-3210.

CNRC accepting applications
The Clinical Nutrition Research Center at Harvard Medical School now is accepting applications for new pilot/feasibility projects and competing renewals of currently funded one-year projects. Boston Stroke Society symposium
The Boston Stroke Society will hold a symposium, "Unruptured Intracranial Aneurysms," May 7, at 7:20 pm in the Wellman Conference Room. A limited-seating dinner prior to the event also will be held with advance reservations. To make a reservation, send e-mail to eychan@partners.org by May 2. Cost of dinner is $15 for staff, $5 for residents and fellows. Checks made out to the Boston Stroke Society should be sent to Robert Ackerman, MD, prior to the event.
