Sending condolences to the McGovern family

After the terrible tragedy that occurred April 8 that took the life of renowned MGH cardiologist Brian McGovern, MD, condolences and messages have streamed into the MGH from colleagues, patients, friends and family members from all across the country and from his home country of Ireland. The outpouring from those who knew and loved him was so great that each letter and e-mail sent to the McGovern family was bound in a special book and given to McGovern's widow, Anne Jennings, MD, at the MGH memorial service April 19.

These condolences will continue to be given to the McGovern family. Those wishing to send messages to the family may do so by sending e-mail to PA@partners.org or by visiting the MGH homepage at www2.massgeneral.org. Messages also may be sent to the McGovern family to the attention of Jeff Davis, senior vice president for MGH Human Resources, 55 Fruit St., Boston, MA, 02114.

In addition, a special fund is being established in McGovern's memory. Details about donations to this fund will be published in a future issue of Hotline.
