From
bedside to roadside MGHers run Boston Marathon for cancer For months, they trained. And in a few hours, 60 runners became heroes to the children they were running for on Marathon Monday. Members of the MassGeneral Marathon Team "Fighting Kids' Cancer ... One Step at a Time" successfully ran the 26 miles from Hopkinton to Copley Square to raise money for pediatric cancer research at the MGH. |

The Marathon celebrations actually started the day before
the race with the runners, patients and their families gathering for a pasta
dinner at the Seaport Hotel in Boston. The runners — including MGH
physicians, nurses, staff, patients, parents and others — presented
young patients with medals for running their own races against cancer.
On Marathon day, friends, co-workers and relatives gathered along the 20-mile mark at Heartbreak Hill to cheer on the team. A lemonade stand and bake sale, run by neighborhood kids, raised $283 for the team. The team has already raised more than $200,000 for the hospital and hopes to reach its goal of $300,000 by June 1, which will be matched by Adidas America. |
