John Belknap, director of Billing Compliance for the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization (MGPO), recently received the Best Practice Award from the Council of Ethical Organizations in Washington, DC. Belknap was recognized for his significant contribution to the outstanding quality of the MGPO Professional Billing Compliance Program.

Thomas P. Fitzpatrick, MD, of MGH Dermatology, recently was awarded a certificate of appreciation from the International League of Dermatology. Fitzpatrick was recognized for his commitment to academic dermatology and for his scientific contributions.

Sheila Davis, of the MGH Infectious Disease Unit, received the 2001 Vision Award from Positive Directions in Boston. Positive Directions is a nonprofit human services organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of people living with HIV or AIDS. Davis was recognized for her outstanding achievements in helping those living with HIV and AIDS.

James H. Herndon, MD, chief of Partners Orthopædics, was named second vice president of the American Academy of Orthopædic Surgeons at the organization's 68th annual meeting in San Francisco.
