Memorial service
A memorial service for Anthony Kirvilaitis of Patient Care Services will be held April 29, from 11 am to noon in the MGH Chapel and O'Keeffe Auditorium. A reception will follow in the Trustees Room. He died Jan. 14 after a long battle with cancer. Kirvilaitis worked at the MGH for 16 years.

PIE award online nominations
Nomination forms for the 2002 Partners in Excellence awards will be available online April 15. Individuals or teams who consistently go beyond the call of duty in quality treatment and service; leadership and innovation; teamwork; operational efficiency; or outstanding community contributions are eligible for nomination. The online nomination form will be available by visiting http://intranet.partners.org/pie/.

Biostatistics seminars for physiologic investigators
The Clinical Research Program is sponsoring "Problem-Based Biostatistics Seminars for Physiologic Investigators." Seminars will be held in the Lawrence House Conference Room May 2, 9, 16 and 23, from 3:30 to 5 pm. This seminar series is intended for physiologic investigators who have moderate or substantial statistical experience. The goal of the seminars is to demonstrate alternative statistical approaches to questions explored by physiologic investigators. Registration is required and must be received by April 25. Quilt display
The MGH Comforters, a group of MGH employees and volunteers who quilt, will display the comfort quilts they have made for MGH patients and their families. The display will be in the Main Corridor April 18, from 11 am to 2 pm. For more information, call the MGH Volunteer Department at (617) 726-8540.

Genetic Issues in Clinical Research
The Clinical Research Program and the Harvard-Partners Center for Genetics and Genomics are co-sponsoring a two-day course addressing "Genetic Issues in Clinical Research," May 2 and 9, at the Partners Training and Development Center, 185 Charles River Plaza, second floor. The course will be taught by Gretchen Schneider, MS, education coordinator, and Bruce Korf, MD, PhD, medical director. This two-day class is intended for clinical research nurses and coordinators with at least six months research experience. Registration is required. Winning at the Losing Game
MGH Nutrition Services is offering a 10-week weight management class called "Winning at the Losing Game." Beginning May 1, the class meets every Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 pm and includes nutrition education and an individualized plan by a registered dietitian, an exercise program supervised by a physical therapist and martial arts instructor, and behavioral modification to assist with lifestyle change. The class is $265, and $240 for MGH employees. For more information, call (617) 726-2779.

Organ donor awareness
