In memoriam: Gilbert Nessolini

Former longtime MGHer Gilbert Nessolini died at the hospital on March 23. Prior to his retirement in 1985, he had been director of Engineering and Maintenance for most of his more than 35 years at the MGH. During those years most major renovation projects at the hospital were carried out by employees instead of outside contractors, and Nessolini oversaw such activities as a complete renovation of the operating rooms in the Gray Building.

Nessolini was a graduate of Northeastern University and worked at Raytheon and Waltham Watch Company before joining the Army during World War II. He joined the MGH in 1948 after his discharge.
