Family-Centered Care Awards

MassGeneral Hospital for Children, along with the MGH Children and HealthCare Week Committee, is sponsoring the Family-Centered Care Awards. Patients, families and MGH employees are encouraged to nominate colleagues who embody the guiding principles of MassGeneral Hospital for Children. Each nomination should include a short paragraph about the nominee's qualifications, and should be submitted to Judy Newell, RN, nurse manager, Bigelow 10 Nursing Office. Five recipients will be honored and all nominees will be acknowledged at the Children and HealthCare Week "Celebrate Us" party, April 27, 1 to 3 pm. Nominations are due by April 17.

College/career fair
The MGH and Partners HealthCare will host a college/career fair for outpatient practice and other support staff, March 21, 11:30 am to 6 pm at Partners Training, 185 Charles River Plaza. Representatives from local colleges will be present to answer questions about certificate and degree programs, admission requirements and financial aid. Staff will be on hand to discuss job opportunities, required training, tuition reimbursement and MGH scholarship programs. For more information, call 726-2230.

Clinical Research Program course offerings
The MGH Clinical Research Program (CRP) and the Department of Molecular Biology will offer "Bioinformatic Analysis Using the Internet: A Primer on Using Web-Based Tools in Functional Genomics Analysis," March 28, 4 to 5 pm in the Wellman 11 Conference Room. The Partners HealthCare Human Research Committee and the MGH CRP will present "Issues in Clinical Research at the MGH — Adverse Event Reporting," March 28, 4 to 5 pm in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. Bald is Beautiful Ball
The MGH Cancer Center will hold its annual Bald is Beautiful Ball, March 23, 7 pm to midnight at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Cambridge. The evening will feature cocktails, dinner, dancing and an auction hosted by Kim Carrigan of WHDH Channel 7 News. Black tie is optional. All proceeds will benefit the Bone Marrow Transplant Patient Gift Fund. Tickets are $75 in advance. For more information, contact the Cancer Center at 726-5600.

HOPES Program events
The MGH Cancer Center's HOPES (Helping Our Patients and Families through Education and Support) Program will offer several classes and sessions this month. Yoga instructor Luba Zagachin will present a drop-in yoga class, March 22 and 29, noon to 1 pm. All events are held in the Cancer Resource Room on Cox 1.
