Partners physicians gather for annual event

Physicians from throughout the Partners HealthCare network recently gathered for the third annual Partners Physicians Day, held at the Sheraton Boston Hotel Feb. 9. George E. Thibault, MD, Partners vice president for Clinical Affairs, welcomed the audience of approximately 500 Partners clinicians. Samuel O. Thier, MD, Partners president and chief executive officer, gave an update on recent Partners activities. Raju Kucherlapati, PhD, scientific director of the recently formed Harvard-Partners Center for Genetics and Genomics, spoke about the "Implications of the Genetics Revolution on Clinical Practice."

The all-day program featured more than 30 topics, including conflict of interest in clinical research, what clinicians need to know about biological and chemical warfare, clinical research in the post-genomic era and new cancer therapies.

Next year’s Partners Physicians Day will be held Feb. 8, 2003.
