Patel honored with international award

A member of the MGH Orthopædic staff, Dinesh Patel, MD, chief of MGH Arthroscopic Surgery, recently was awarded a Gujarat Garima Award by the government and people of Gujarat, India. Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee presented Patel with the prestigious award at the World Gujarati Family Festival organized for non-resident Gujaratis during the Uttarayan Festival in January.

Patel received the award for his outstanding work and achievements in the field of orthopædic surgery as well as his work with ALTSO (A Leg to Stand On), an organization that provides artificial limbs to children who are victims of earthquakes as well as other traumatic medical problems. The award also honors him for the education and training he has provided to orthopædic surgeons in the field of arthroscopic surgery in India for many years.
