What's Happening

April vacation camp
The MGH Backup Child Care Center will sponsor an April vacation camp for children 6 to 12 years old, April 17 through 21. Tuition for the week is $200. Activities will include field trips, parties and games. To register, MGHers may call 4-8414 on March 15, beginning at 8 am.

Clinical trials compliance
The MGH Clinical Research Program (CRP) will sponsor two lectures to help investigators comply with federal regulations and Partners policies. "Are Your Clinical Trials in Compliance?" will be offered March 9, 4 to 5 pm in the Wellman Conference Room. Judy Scheer, MPH, RN, of the CRP Education Unit, will discuss the practical application of National Institutes of Health regulations and Partners human research policies to conducting clinical studies. Management strategies for entry-level coordinators
The Clinical Research Program will offer "Management Strategies for Entry-level Coordinators in Phase II-III Studies," March 8, 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, Wellman Conference Room. Topics include efficient workload management; using time management strategies and prioritization techniques; and negotiating the MGH clinical research system. Children and Healthcare Week art fair
The theme of this year's Children and Healthcare Week art fair is "Who or What Keeps You Healthy and Safe." Art works will be displayed in the main lobby March 15 through 31. During that time, the general public will judge entries for creativity. Prizes will be given to the first, second and third place winners in three age groups. Employees' children and patients are encouraged to participate. Entries may be sent to Mary Lou Kelleher, RN, at Ellison 17, or to John D'Angelo at VBK 6. For more information, call 4-5720.

PeopleSoft order confirmation update
Purchasing has received positive feedback from MGHers taking advantage of the new purchase order (PO) confirmation process. MGHers should remember to include e-mail addresses on all paper requisitions sent to Purchasing. MGH Cancer Center/HOPES seminars
The MGH Cancer Center HOPES Program (Helping Our Patients/ Families through Education and Support) presents educational seminars for patients, families and MGHers. Drop-in yoga classes will be offered March 9, 16, 23 and 30, noon to 1 pm, in the Cancer Resource Room, Cox 1. For more information, call 4-1822.

Quit Smoking Service
The MGH Quit Smoking Service will offer an eight-week group program beginning March 8, 5:30 pm. Topics include information about nicotine replacement and Zyban, preparation for quitting, coping with stress without cigarettes, preventing weight gain, and relapse prevention. A telephone support line is available to participants. For more information, call 6-7443.

EAP work/life resources expo
The Employee Assistance Program will offer a work/life expo March 16, 11 am to 1 pm in the Wellman Conference Room. Information about balancing work and family; stress management; child and elder care; financial counseling; alcohol and drugs; nutrition and activity clubs will be available. Refreshments will be served, and MGHers can get a free head and neck massage.
