Bloomingdale's shopping day
MGHers are invited to participate in a special shopping day at Bloomingdale's in Chestnut Hill March 6 to support the MGH Vincent Obstetrics and Gynecology Service. Tickets are $10 and entitle shoppers to 15 percent discounts on nearly all merchandise. All ticket sale proceeds will directly benefit Vincent research endeavors. Eating disorders public forum
As part of National Eating Disorders Awareness Week, the Harvard Eating Disorders Center, Harvard Eating Concerns Hotline and Outreach, and the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSOE) Office of Student Affairs will sponsor a public forum entitled "Culture, the Media and Eating Disorders: Reclaiming our Culture," Feb. 25. The forum will be held at the Askwith Lecture Hall in HGSOE's Longfellow Hall at 7 pm. Mallika Marshall, MD, assistant director of the MGH Chelsea HealthCare Center Urgent Care Department and WBZ-Channel 4 HealthWatch reporter, will serve as moderator for the event. Panel participants will include model and author Emme, Academy Award-winning documentary filmmaker Margaret Lazarus and Harvard's Bureau of Study Counsel psychologist and author Sheila Reindl. Invitational awards for HMS faculty
To select candidates who will represent Harvard Medical School (HMS) in national fellowship and grant competitions, an internal review and selection process is conducted annually by the HMS Faculty Fellowship Committee. Hard copies of the "Red Book" announcement booklet currently are available throughout the HMS community at offices of full professors and in the HMS Research Administration, Career Development and Faculty Affairs Departments. Partners Research Patient Data Registry overview
The MGH Clinical Research Program (CRP) and the MGH Laboratory of Computer Science will offer "Using the Web-Based Partners Research Patient Data Registry to Find Patient Cohorts for Clinical Research Studies," Feb. 25, from 4 to 5 pm in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. Shawn Murphy, MD, PhD, of the MGH Laboratory of Computer Science, will present a brief overview of this Partners information resource. Palliative Care presentation
In observance of its sixth anniversary and to thank the MGH community for its support, the MGH Palliative Care Service will offer a presentation by internationally renowned lecturer and writer Rabbi Earl Grollman, PhD, March 6. "Explaining Dying and Death to Children and to Ourselves" will be held at noon in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. A buffet luncheon will follow the presentation, and all MGH employees are welcome to attend.
