A
prayer for peace In these uncertain and increasingly worrisome times, the desire for peace is all the more relevant and needed. In recognition of this need, the MGH Chaplaincy hosted an interfaith vigil Feb. 12 to pray for world peace and harmony. "We need peace of mind, body and spirit," says Michael McElhinny, chaplain for Oncology. "It is important to strive to meet the pastoral needs of all. In our MGH community, our diversity is our strength." He also spoke about the importance of the acceptance of all, without regard to age, gender, race or religion. Chaplaincy staff representing a myriad of religions and faiths at the service included McElhinny, Edward Todd, Rabbi Benjamin Lanckton, Fethiya Aboubaker, Rev. Felix Ojimba and Rev. Ann G. Haywood. The service also included a performance by Jane Beaton, who encouraged attendees to sing along to the inspirational song "Let There be Peace on Earth."
