Ashley Bush, MD, of MGH Neurology, was awarded the 2003 Potamkin Award for Alzheimer's disease research from the American Academy of Neurology. This award recognizes major contributions to the understanding of the cause, prevention and treatment of, and ultimately the cure for Pick's, Alzheimer's and related diseases. Bush will present a 20-minute lecture during an aging and dementia scientific session at the American Academy of Neurology's 55th annual meeting March 29 to April 5.

Rudolph Tanzi, PhD, of the MGH Genetics and Aging Unit, recently was presented with three honors. He was awarded the 2002 Ellison Medical Foundation Senior Scholar Award for his work on the role of the multiligand receptor, LRP in Alzheimer's disease-related neuropathogenesis and aging. Tanzi also was invited to speak at the prestigious TIME — Future of Life Summit, a three-day conference celebrating the 50th anniversary of the discovery of DNA. The summit will feature his recent book co-authored with Ann Parson, "Decoding Darkness: The Search for the Genetic Causes of Alzheimer's Disease." Tanzi also was invited to present a lecture at the 2003 American Association for the Advancement of Science annual meeting.
