HappeningClinical Research Program seminar
"NIH-Sponsored Studies: What Regulations and
Policies Do We Have to Know?" will be held Feb. 14, 11:45 am to 1 pm in the Wellman
Conference Room. Francine Molay, MSW, project manager of the multicenter National
Institutes of Health (NIH)-sponsored Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome Studies, will
cover the federal regulations governing NIH-sponsored studies. Lunch will be served. The
lecture qualifies for 1.2 CEUs for registered nurses. MGHers can RSVP by calling 726-1669.
Black History Month
celebration
Robert Simmons, RN, RRT, will speak at a special
meeting of the Association of Multicultural Members of Partners to celebrate Black History
Month, Feb. 13, noon to 1:30 pm in the Trustees Room. Lunch will be served.
MGH video
Employees are invited to view "Making a
Difference," a video produced by the MGH Human Resources and Customer Service
departments about what it takes to work and thrive at the MGH. The video will be shown
Feb. 12, between 10 am and 2 pm, outside the Eat Street Café entrance and in the Main
Corridor.
MGH Cancer Center's
HOPES program seminars
The MGH Cancer Center's HOPES (Helping our Patients and Families through
Education and Support) program will offer several presentations and seminars this month.
Regina Holdstock, RPh, will facilitate a discussion, "Got the Flu? What To Do,"
Feb. 12, noon to 12:30 pm. Joan Gallagher, RN, EdD, will host "Give Yourself A
Valentine: Strategies to Stop Smoking," Feb. 14, noon to 1 pm. "What if My
Cancer Comes Back? Dealing With Fears of Recurrence," facilitated by Elizabeth
Johnson, RN, and cancer patient Ron Plomondon, will be held Feb. 15, 1 to 2 pm. Kim
Halloran, MS, PT, will host "Getting Fit in the New Year: You Can Exercise While
Undergoing Cancer Treatment," Feb. 16, noon to 1 pm. All events will be held in the
Cancer Resource Room on Cox 1. Seminars and drop-in support groups are free, and no prior

Schwartz Rounds
The 47th Kenneth B. Schwartz Rounds will take place Feb. 16, in the Walcott
Conference Room, WACC. The featured topic is "Obesity: Caregivers Connecting With
Their Patients." Lunch will be provided, beginning at 11:45 am, and the discussion
will be held from noon to 1 pm.
MGPO quarterly
meeting
MGH physicians and staff are invited to the
Massachusetts General Physicians Organization (MGPO) quarterly meeting, Feb. 28, 5 to 6:30
pm in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. Michael Jellinek, MD, senior vice president for
Administration at the MGH, will discuss the new MGH ambulatory care building and give an
update on Newton-Wellesley Hospital. Joan A. Sapir, of Customer Service and Practice
Support at the MGH and MGH/MGPO vice president, will give a Customer Service update, and
Samuel O. Thier, MD, president and CEO of Partners, will present a Partners update.
Refreshments will be served. |
