Harvard forum
The Harvard Eating Disorders Center at the MGH will sponsor a public forum on body image, culture and the media Feb. 24, from 7 to 9 pm at the Harvard Graduate School of Education in the Gutman Conference Center in the Gutman Library. Panel participants will include actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler from HBO's "The Sopranos" and Abby Gardner, beauty director for YM Magazine. The event is free. Ethics forum
The MGH Ethics Task Force will sponsor "Happy Valentines Day: Love and Sex in the World Views of C.S. Lewis and Sigmund Freud" Feb. 14, from noon to 1 pm in the MGH Sweet Conference Room on the fourth floor of the Gray Building. Author Armand M. Nicholi, MD, associate clinical professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, will be the guest speaker. Participants are welcome to bring their lunch. Beverages and dessert will be provided. Faculty seminar series
The Department of Medicine Academic Council will present the first in its Faculty Seminar Series entitled, "How to Write a Grant — Fellows and Beginning Scientists," Feb. 12, from 4 to 5:30 pm in the Ether Dome on Bulfinch 4. The discussion will include strategies for timing and preparation for independent grants, NIH structure, federal funding vs. private foundations and industry resources. South African choir to sing
The Sinikithemba Choir will perform at the MGH Feb. 14, at 4 pm, in the Main Corridor. The choir, whose Zulu name translates to "Give Us Hope" or "We Give Hope," is comprised of 30 members from South Africa, all of whom are infected with HIV. The group's music is a mix of gospel and Zulu folk songs. The concert is sponsored by the MGH Diversity Committee and the Partners AIDS Research Center. All are welcome to attend the free concert. Luncheon for women faculty
The MGH Office for Women's Careers will hold its sixth installment in a noontime learning series Feb. 13, from noon to 1 pm in the Burr 5 Conference Room. Guest speaker Erika B. Gray, who is on the faculty at Suffolk Law School, will speak about handling conflict in the workplace. Participants are welcome to bring their lunch. Interfaith peace service
The MGH Chaplaincy will hold an interfaith service for peace and harmony Feb. 12, from 12:15 to 12:45 pm in the MGH Chapel on Ellison 1. MGH chaplains will conduct the service, which will focus on bringing peace to the world. All are invited to attend.
