Spaulding names new president

Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, a member of Partners HealthCare, has announced that Judith Waterston, MSN, will become Spaulding's new president effective March 17. With more than 30 years of rehabilitation and acute care experience, Waterston will be the first woman to lead the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital Network. The Spaulding network includes its main campus, a 296-bed facility located near North Station, and seven outpatient sites throughout the greater Boston area.

Currently, Waterston is the president and chief executive officer of the Mt. Sinai Hospital Medical Center and Schwab Rehabilitation Hospital and Care Network of Chicago, Ill., where she has served for the past four years. Her responsibilities there include planning, directing and coordinating all activities for the 125-bed rehabilitation hospital and the 432-bed acute care, teaching and research hospital.

Prior to her position at Mt. Sinai and Schwab, Waterston was the executive director of the Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation in Dallas, a position she held for seven years. She has bachelor and master of science degrees in Nursing and spent the first 10 years of her career teaching and in clinical practice.
