Me and my shadow: Students learn about MGH

Twenty-two high school students from East Boston High School interested in learning about the health care field shadowed various MGH employees Jan. 31 during the city of Boston's annual Groundhog Job Shadow Day. MGH departments that participated included the Office of the President, Nursing, Police and Security and Radiation Oncology as well as several others.

The purpose of Job Shadow Day is to help students identify career skills, allow them to spend one-on-one time with someone in a desired field and show the relevance of education to work experience.

Job Shadow Day at the MGH is a collaboration between the Private Industry Council and the MGH Community Benefit Program, which sponsors many partnerships with Boston public schools. The MGH has a partnership with East Boston High School through the ProTech program as well.
