Tabletop drill
The MGH will be participating in a HEICS — Hospital Emergency Incident Command System — tabletop drill Feb. 9, from 9 am to 1 pm. All MGH Incident Command managers will particpate in the drill using a SARS — severe acute respiratory syndrome — scenario. For more information, call Julia Gabaldon at

Prayers for peace
The MGH Chaplaincy will sponsor "Hopes and Prayers for Lasting Peace" Feb. 11, from 12:15 to 12:45 pm at the MGH Chapel. All are invited, and light refreshments will be served following the service. There will be a book in the Chapel beginning Feb. 4 for all to write personal prayers for peace. For more information, call the Chaplaincy office at (617) 726-2220.

MGPO special forum
MGH physicians and staff are invited to attend a special Massachusetts General Physicians Organization (MGPO) forum "IMSuRT Report — Iran Earthquake Rescue Mission," Feb. 11, at 5:30 pm in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. Susan Briggs, MD, of MGH Surgery and director of the International Medical Surgical Response Team (IMSuRT), will speak. For more information, call (617) 724-9080.

Advance directive booth
The MGH Ethics in Clinical Practice Committee, the Patient Education Committee and the Blum Patient and Family Learning Center will co-sponsor an Advance Directive Booth in the Main Corridor, from 6:30 am to 4 pm. The booth will offer information about advance directives, and staff will be available to answer questions.

Boston Stroke Society symposium
The Boston Stroke Society will hold its winter assembly "Migraine and Stroke" Feb. 25, at 7:20 pm in the Wellman Conference Room. A limited-seating dinner prior to the event also will be held with advance reservations. Marie-Germaine Bousser, professor and head of Neurology at the Lariboisiere Medical Faculty and Hospital in Paris, will be the featured speaker. To make a reservation, send e-mail to cmcgraw@partners.org by Feb. 20. Cost of dinner is $15 for staff, $5 for residents and fellows.

Basic Biostatistics for Clinical Investigators
The Clinical Research Program, the General Clinical Research Center and the Center for Clinical Nutrition are sponsoring "Basic Biostatistics for Clinical Investigators" in the Walcott 2 and 3 Conference Rooms, Feb. 10, 17 and 24, from 4 to 5:30 pm. The lecture Feb. 10, "Drawing Inferences from Data (Part 1): Estimating and Comparing Means" will cover the basic ideas of estimation and hypothesis testing. Intended for investigators at the fellow and faculty level with minimal statistical experience, this course will consist of one-hour lectures followed by a discussion. Registration is required. Ethics forum
The MGH Ethics Task Force will sponsor "Exploring the Concept of Hope at End of Life" Feb. 13, from noon to 1 pm in the MGH Sweet Conference Room, Gray Building, fourth floor. Speakers will include Rev. Linda Knight, of MGH Chaplaincy, and Theresa Cantanno-Evans, RN, MS, an MGH clinical nurse specialist. For more information, send e-mail to acist@partners.org.
