Stephen B. Calderwood, MD, chief of the MGH Division of Infectious Diseases, recently was named to the Massachusetts Bioterrorism Coordinating Council. The six-member council, newly created by acting governor Jane Swift, will work to develop a strategy for protecting the state from a potential bioterrorism attack. Anne Klibanski, MD, chief of the MGH Neuroendocrine Unit, has been named recipient of the Endocrine Society's national Clinical Investigator Award. Klibanski will receive the award and deliver a plenary lecture at the society's annual meeting in San Francisco June 21. Daniel B. Kopans, MD, of MGH Radiology; James W. May, MD, of MGH Plastic Surgery; and Barbara L. Smith, MD, of MGH Surgical Oncology, recently were included in Redbook magazine's national list of "Top Breast Cancer Doctors." The physicians were recognized by their peers as exceptional practitioners in their areas of specialty. The MGH Treadwell Library has won the contract to serve as the Consumer Health Reference Center for 1,600 libraries throughout Massachusetts. The library is both a resource for consumer health information and a clearinghouse for referrals to appropriate health organizations. |
