MassGeneral Hospital for Children celebrates second birthday

A crowd of exuberant well-wishers gathered around a giant cake in the Main Corridor, where MassGeneral Hospital for Children's second birthday celebration took place Jan. 23. Alan Ezekowitz, MBChB, DPhil, chief of Pediatrics for MassGeneral Hospital for Children; Patricia Donahoe, MD, chief of Pediatric Surgery; Mary Lou Kelleher, MS, RN, pediatric clinical nurse specialist; Ronald Kleinman, MD, associate chief of Pediatrics; and mascot Pedie the Bear were among those in attendance to salute two years of quality care for pediatric patients.

The party's guest of honor was Lindsey Beggan, a former cancer patient at MassGeneral Hospital for Children who recently carried the Olympic torch through the streets of Boston. Lindsey aided Ezekowitz in cutting the first slice of a special Olympic-themed cake made by the MGH Bake Shop.

"The theme of today's celebration is representative of the little things that make MassGeneral Hospital for Children a special place," Ezekowitz said. "All of you pass the torch every day, and for that we thank you."
