  • Doctors head for Super Bowl
    They may not wear helmets or shoulder pads, but Bertram Zarins, MD, and Thomas Gill, MD, of MGH Orthopædics, are an integral part of the New England Patriots team. Zarins, who has been the Patriots' head physician since 1982, and Gill, who has been the team's associate physician for six years, headed for Houston at 6 am Jan. 29.
  • A heartfelt thank you to the "Santas" of the MGH community
    Below is a letter written by the mother of a pediatric patient of the MGH Northeast Proton Therapy Center (NPTC) about a gift she received from the Walsh Brothers construction worker. The construction workers raised approximately $12,000 for an entertainment room and for individual gifts for the pediatric patients of the NPTC.
  • Hood helps hit a home run
    The Boston Red Sox may not have won the World Series but they're still champions to the patients of MassGeneral Hospital for Children. The Hood Home Team Advantage Program, which teams up HP Hood, Inc. with the Boston Red Sox, supports children's hospitals throughout New England by donating a certain amount of money $200 during the American League Division Series and $300 during the Championship Series for every home run, double play and strikeout by the Red Sox at Fenway Park.
  • Do you know me?
    For the past 18 months, members of the Ladies Visiting Committee (LVC) have been canvassing the hospital in search of artifacts. Not just any artifacts, but those arts and antiquities that are relevant to the history of the MGH. In looking through some stored items, members of the LVC came across an unidentified portrait.
  • Annual SAC meeting celebrates MGH research
    The 57th annual meeting of the MGH Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) gets under way Feb. 4 at 11:30 am with the annual poster session. Reflecting the growing interest in and quality of MGH research, this year's poster session has expanded to both the Wellman Conference Room and the WACC Lobby.
  • Return of the mummy
    Padihershef, the 2,500-year-old mummy who calls the MGH home, was safely returned to the Ether Dome Jan. 22. Padi as he is affectionately called by MGHers spent the past year on display at the George Walter Vincent Smith Art Museum in Springfield, Mass.
  • Illuminations brings festive ending to holiday season
    The MGH Cancer Center's annual "Illuminations"art exhibit was a fine ending to the holiday season as visitors to the MGH Hematology/Oncology Outpatient Unit in the Cox Building were treated to beverages, hors d'oevres and illuminating art work Jan. 7.
