MGH research meeting, symposium and poster session The MGH research community will host its annual Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting, including its annual research symposium and poster session, early next month. The 26th annual MGH Research Symposium and Poster Session will be held Feb. 6. The poster session, which runs from noon to 2 pm in the Wellman Conference Room, will feature 67 posters shown by MGH researchers. In addition, eight students from the James P. Timilty Middle School will display their science fair posters. The symposium will include a presentation by Robert Langer, MD, who is the Kenneth J. Germeshausen Professor of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering at MIT and a member of SAC. He will deliver the keynote address, "Biomaterials and How They Will Change Our Lives," at 2:30 pm in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. The symposium also will include presentations by Joseph Vacanti, MD, director of Tissue Engineering Research in MGH Surgery, and Raju Kucherlapati, PhD, director of the Harvard Medical School-Partners Genetics Program, from 3:45 to 5:45 pm. The 55th annual SAC meeting will be held Feb. 7 in the Wellman Conference Room. The meeting starts at 8:20 am with reports from the MGH Executive Committee on Research (ECOR) leadership. It also will include updates on the state of MGH research from John Parrish, MD, chairman of ECOR; Ronald S. Newbower, PhD, senior vice president for Research and Technology; and Richard Bringshurst , MD, vice chairman for MGH Research Space Management, as well as other faculty members. A panel discussion, "Focus on Faculty," will be held from 10:15 to 11:30 am. The final session, from 11:15 am to 12:15 pm, will include a discussion about the Center for the Integration of Medicine and Innovative Technology (CIMIT) and genetics initiatives.
