William F. Crowley, Jr., MD, of the MGH Reproductive Endocrine Unit, has been named president of the Endocrine Society. The society is the largest professional organization of endocrinologists in the world, with more than 10,000 members internationally. Crowley also recently was selected as the recipient of the General Clinical Research Centers (GCRC) Program's 14th Annual Award for Excellence in Clinical Research. The national award will be presented during the GCRC program directors' annual meeting in April.

Robert B. Colvin, MD, chief of MGH Pathology, and Rudolph E. Tanzi, PhD, of MGH Neurology, recently were named fellows by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Colvin received the honor for his contributions to the understanding of the immunopathology of renal disease and for his leadership in pathology education and research. Tanzi was recognized for his contributions to the genetics of neurological disease, particularly Alzheimer's, and for his book Decoding Darkness. Colvin and Tanzi will join 286 other new fellows in receiving official certificates and pins at the 2002 AAAS Annual Meeting in Boston Feb. 16.
