Stephen R. Lauterback, MD, an MGH clinical and research fellow in Vascular Surgery, recently received the Darling Award for Clinical Research at the New England Vascular Society meeting. Patrick Casey, MD, an MGH research fellow in Vascular Surgery, was presented with the Deterling Award for Basic Science Research at the same meeting. Hermes C. Grillo, MD, of MGH Surgery, recently was presented the New England Surgical Society Nathan Smith Distinguished Award in recognition of exceptional professional contributions. James Balcom, MD, of the General Surgery Residency Program, recently received first prize in the residents' competition for his five year study of pancreatic resection operations at a recent meeting of the New England Surgical Society. In addition, Jean-Pierre Pierie, MD, PhD, a research fellow, received third prize in the same competition for his paper "Effect of Surgery and Grade on Outcome of Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors." |
