| High
school students tour MGH, Shriners Over
the years, the MGH has been host to a variety of guests and visitors from
all over the world. The crowd assembled Jan. 11 in the MGH Ether Dome
was one of many such groups — though they may have been a bit younger
than the average visitor. Students from Lawrence High School came to the
MGH representing the Injury Prevention and Vocational Program for Minority
High School Students in Massachusetts.
Organized by
Ruben Peralta, MD, of MGH Surgery and Trauma and Critical Care, and the MGH Multicultural Affairs Office,
the students' visit included tours of the MGH and Shriners
Burns Hospital. The juniors and seniors were treated to a historic overview of the MGH
in the Ether Dome as well as a presentation about community service programs at the
hospital. The students also heard lectures and discussions about injury prevention and
careers in the medical field.
At the conclusion of their trip, each student received a diploma recognizing their
participation. For more information about the Injury Prevention and Vocational Program,
