What's HappeningMartin Luther King Day celebration
Partners HealthCare and the MGH
will be hosting a special celebration of the legacy of Martin Luther King,
Jr., Jan. 24, 4 pm in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. This celebration will feature
guest speaker Rev. Bernice A. King, who is the youngest daughter of Martin
Luther King, Jr. A reception will be held immediately following the celebration

MGH Revere lectures
The MGH Revere HealthCare Center, located at 300
Ocean Ave. in Revere, will present an evening of lectures Jan. 18, 6 to 8:30 pm in the
Sweet Conference Room. Topics will include type-2 diabetes, hormone replacement therapy,
adult vaccination and managing diabetes with carbohydrate counting. Refreshments will be

Weight management
class
MGH Nutrition Service is offering a 10-week weight
management class called "Winning at the Losing Game." Beginning Jan. 23, the
class will meet every Tuesday, 5:30 to 7:30 pm and includes nutrition education by a
registered dietitian, an exercise program supervised by a physical therapist and martial
arts instructor and behavioral modification to assist with lifestyle change. The class is
$240 ($225 for employees) and is limited to 15 participants. For more information, call

February vacation
children's camp
The MGH Backup Child Care Center, located in the
Warren Lobby, will host a February vacation camp for employees' children from kindergarten
through 12 years. Camp will be held Feb. 19 to 23, from 7:30 am to 6 pm. Reservations will
be accepted by phone, for one week only beginning Jan. 17. Part-time slots are not

HOPES seminars
The MGH
HOPES (Helping Our Patients and Families through Education and Support) program will
offer "Spiritual Resources for the New Year," facilitated by Rev. Michael
McElhinny, oncology chaplain, Jan. 17, noon to 1 pm. "I'm Worried about Relapse or
Recurrence: A Discussion," facilitated by Elizabeth Johnson, RN, and patient, Ron
Plomondon, will be offered Jan. 18, 1 to 2 pm. All seminars are held in the Cancer
Resource Room on Cox 1. Seminars are free, and no registration is required. For more

Program (CRP) is sponsoring "What do we do after the IRB says OK? Partners
Quality Improvement and Human Subject Protection Program," Jan. 24, 11:45 am to 1 pm,
in the Wellman Conference Room. Delia Wolf, MD, director of the Partners Quality
Improvement (QI) and Human Subjects Protection Program, will present the seminar. To make

MassGeneral Hospital
for Children celebrates anniversary
A one-year anniversary celebration for the MassGeneral Hospital
for Children will be held Jan. 17, 10 am to 4 pm in the Main Corridor. A special
cake-cutting ceremony will be held at 2:30 pm. |
