Knowledgeable MGHers win confidentiality quiz

Do MGH employees know what HIPAA stands for? According to a recent quiz conducted by the MGH Patient Confidentiality Committee, many MGHers are not aware that the acronym stands for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. HIPAA is the recently-passed set of regulations that protect patients' rights to keep their medical information confidential.

The quiz was conducted during National Health Information Management Week in November, and was part of a hospitalwide awareness campaign about new patient confidentiality policies and guidelines. Three of the MGHers who answered all of the quiz questions correctly were selected as winners of raffle prizes. The winners were Rita Devlin, RN, of Ellison 7; Julia Fradera, of Respiratory Care Services; and Jacob Ham, of MGH Psychiatry.
