Accounts Payable open house
MGH Accounts Payable will host an open house session every Tuesday, noon to 2 pm in the Materials Management Administrative Office, Gray Basement, Room 010. Representatives from Accounts Payable will be on hand to answer questions, address concerns and provide training for the PeopleSoft Accounts Payable system. EAP program on home buying
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Work/Life Seminars Series begins the new year with a two-part series on home buying. Part I will provide an overview of all phases, from searching to closing. Part II will concentrate exclusively on the financial aspects of the purchasing process. There will be an explanation of the steps necessary to secure a mortgage and obtain pre-qualified status. Part I: "The Process from Searching to Closing" will be held Jan. 11. Part II: "Financing Your New Home," will be held Feb. 8. Both sessions will be held noon to 1 pm in the Wellman Conference Room. Ethics session for rehabilitation medicine
Rehabilitation medicine involves integrated care with an extended multidisciplinary team. The ethical challenges faced by rehabilitation clinicians more often deal with quality of life than issues encountered in acute care. An ethics session addressing these issues will be held Jan. 10, 4:30 to 6 pm in Walcott 2. This session will provide an overview of ethical issues in rehabilitation and will illustrate these dilemmas in a case-based discussion. Refreshments will be provided. Family alcoholism education series
The Blum Patient and Family Learning Center, located in the Main Corridor, will host education seminars about alcoholism every Thursday, 5:30 to 6:30 pm. Topics will include a discussion of the disease, the effects on children, intervention, treatment and recovery. The series is open to patients, family members and friends who are concerned about someone with an alcohol or other drug problem. No registration is needed, and there is no fee. The series will be facilitated by Maureen McGlame, MEd, LICSW, from the West End Clinic at the MGH. For more information, contact McGlame at 726-9216.

HOPES seminars
The MGH HOPES (Helping Our Patients and Families through Education and Support) program will offer a drop-in yoga class, facilitated by Luba Zagachin, certified yoga instructor, Jan. 11, 18 and 25, from noon to 1 pm. "The Healing Power of Creative Expression," facilitated by Elizabeth Cook, an expressive arts therapist, will be offered Jan. 9 and 16, from 1 to 2 pm. "Caring for Yourself while Caring for a Loved One," facilitated by Eileen Joyce, MSW, LICSW, will be offered Jan. 11, from 2 to 3 pm. All seminars are held in the Cancer Resource Room on Cox 1.
