  • Angels Above brave snowstorm for holiday cheer at MGHfC
    The season's first winter snowstorm did not prevent the Angels Above Charitable Trust "angels" — Sue Horman, founder of Angels Above and her colleague, Mary Beth Brunelle — along with their special friends from the North Pole, Santa Claus and his elves from traveling to the MassGeneral Hospital for Children (MGHfC) Dec. 13 to bring holiday cheer to young patients. The festive group brought treats and gifts for the children on Ellison 17 and 18 as well as the Pediatric and the Neonatal Intensive Care Units.

    Based on the link between stress level and the severity of disease symptoms, clinicians at the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine at MGH (BHI) have developed a program that helps patients manage illness more effectively by proactively coping with stress.

    Over the past year, MGHers from numerous departments have participated in the MGH/MGPO Service Improvement Department's Service Learning Series, which offers forums focused on giving managers and leaders the knowledge and tools needed to enhance their service delivery.

    Millions of American families may soon be on their way to living smoke-free lives through a new research initiative led by Jonathan Winickoff, MD, MPH, of the Center for Children and Adolescent Health Policy at the MassGeneral Hospital for Children.

    At a ceremony Oct. 12, the staff of the MGH Chelsea HealthCare Center presented the annual Sarah Jennings Richards, MD, Award to Laurie O'Leary, NP. Named in honor of Richards, a pediatrician who served the Chelsea community for more than 30 years, the award recognizes a member of the MGH Chelsea staff who has worked at the center for more than 20 years and exemplifies the professionalism, dedication and clinical excellence Richards embodied.
