New Partners vice president of Research Administration

Following a national search, Geoffrey Grant, a prominent leader in the field of research administration, has been named vice president for Partners Research Administration, effective March 1. In this role, he will be responsible for the offices and activities that comprise Partners Research Management. Grant will report to Partners HealthCare Chief Academic Officer Daniel K. Podolsky, MD, and will work closely with F. Richard Bringhurst, MD, senior vice president for Research at the MGH, and Barbara Bierer, MD, senior vice president for Research at BWH.

Grant joins Partners following a long and distinguished career at the National Institutes of Health, where he served as director of the Office of Policy for Extramural Research Administration. Following that he was associate vice president for Research Administration at Stanford University, and most recently he worked at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, while on detail from the National Science Foundation. At the science policy office he worked with all federal research agencies to foster multidisciplinary research.

"We are delighted to welcome Geoff to Partners," says Podolsky. "I am confident that with his wide breadth of experience in research administration and his proven leadership and management acumen, he will ensure that the Partners research community is supported by research management that meets the highest possible standards of quality, efficiency and regulatory compliance."
