Health and fitness walk for seniors
MGH Senior HealthWISE will lead a group of walkers in the Health and Fitness Walk for seniors hosted by Boston Mayor Thomas Menino. The walk will take place Oct. 12, from 11 am to 2 pm at the Boston Common. All participants must register with Boston City Hall by Oct. 5. To register, call Michael McColgan at (617) 635-4168. Ramadan Iftar dinner
The MGH Diversity Steering Committee, Patient Care Services and Human Resources will host a community Iftar dinner Oct. 12, from 5:45 to 7:30 pm in the Thier Conference Room to celebrate the breaking of the fast during the month of Ramadan.

Domestic violence presentation
In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the MGH Domestic Violence Working Group and MGH Men Against Abuse will co-host "Something My Father Would Do — Overcoming Legacies of Family Violence" Oct. 11, from 11:45 am to 1 pm in the Burr Conference Rooms. The event will include a screening of a film featuring the life stories of men who experienced abuse as children. Lunch will be served.

CFD noontime learning series
The Center for Faculty Development (CFD) will offer "Moving Educational Activities into Scholarship" Oct. 12, from noon to 1 pm in the Haber Conference Room. Guest speaker Janet P. Hafler, EdD, dean for Education Development at Tufts University School of Medicine, will discuss the progression of a faculty member's educational activities, scholarship and methods for evaluating educational scholarship with a focus on promotion.
