  • Patient reconnects with the MGH
    As the director of the newly-created MGH Office for Visitor Education Programs (VEP), Michelle "Shelly" Riley is accustomed to sharing with visitors all that the MGH has to offer. Recently, Riley had the opportunity to lead an especially unique tour, helping former patient Ana Laura Assad of Victoria, Mexico, reconnect with the doctor and the hospital that gave her back her life 30 years ago.
  • Cancer Center celebrates
    More than 100 MGHers celebrated the one-year anniversary of the MGH Cancer Center Support Staff Development Program at a barbecue luncheon Aug. 3.
  • Bulfinch Medical Group: Learning from Toyota
    The staff at MGH's Bulfinch Medical Group (BMG) recently applied methods developed by the automobile manufacturer Toyota to implement changes enhancing the workflow of their prescription processing system.
  • MGH recognizes World Breastfeeding Week
    To celebrate World Breastfeeding Week, the MGH hosted a three-day information table in the Main Corridor, where obstetricians, nutrition specialists and lactation consultants were on hand to answer questions along with representatives from the MGH Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which organizes the Mother's Corner — a breastfeeding support program for employees.
  • Molecular switch may turn off immune cells that target HIV
    A primary mystery of the AIDS epidemic — why the immune system does not control HIV infection — may have been solved by a team led by MGH researchers. They report how a molecular pathway involved in the immune cell "exhaustion" seen in some chronic viral infections plays a similar role in HIV infection and that blocking the pathway restores some function to HIV-specific T cells.
  • Justin Stanton raises $65,000 for MGH Cancer Center
    Justin Stanton, an 18-year-old who lost his father Kenneth to bone cancer in 2005, recently established the Kenneth Stanton Memorial Golf Tournament to benefit the MGH Cancer Center. This year's event was held Aug. 16 and raised more than $65,000 for cancer research.
  • MGHers organize for success
    In many workplaces today, creating and maintaining an efficient system to organize information and paper can be a challenge, one that many MGHers have experienced firsthand. To help hospital employees better organize their work areas, the MGH Employee Assistance Program (EAP) recently sponsored a series of seminars, "Organize Your Workspace for Success," led by Cristin Lind, a productivity and organizing consultant.
