Children
and HealthCare Week celebrates 10 years
For 10 years, the MGH's youngest patients have been recognized,
honored and celebrated with a special week of activities dedicated to
the quality care provided by MassGeneral Hospital for Children (MGHC).
Below is a list of this year's Children and HealthCare Week activities:
• April 24 -"Hurt
Alert Day,"- MGHC staff will provide an educational program about
how to treat pediatric pain. In addition, a teddy bear clinic will be
held at 11 am in the Ellison 17 playroom, and a caricature artist will
visit the Ellison 18 playroom at 6:30 pm.
• April 25 -Grand
rounds to be held at noon in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. Lunch will be served.
"The Moon Balloon: A Journey of Hope and Discovery for Children and
Families," will be the topic presented by Joan Drescher, artist-in-residence
for MGHC. In addition, a spring party will be held on the inpatient units
at 12:30 pm, hosted by Angels Above, and a special visit from Disney characters
will be at 3:30 pm.
• April 26 - The Family-Centered
Care Award ceremony will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 pm in the Ellison 17
playroom, followed by an ice cream party on Ellison 18.
• April 27 - The "Queen
for a Day"celebration at 3 pm will allow young patients to be pampered
with manicures and makeup, then dress up and model their queenly attire.
• April 28 - The Health Fair for Kids with this
year's theme "You're Incredible" will be held from 9 am to 3
pm under the Bulfinch Tent. The fair will feature interactive booths related
to health, safety and other topics.
