  • PIE awards recognize employee excellence at MGH
The month of December often brings a flurry of activities as the holidays approach. It also brings a special annual celebration at the MGH and other Partners institutions — the Partners in Excellence (PIE) Awards.
  • Be Fit progress report: Life changes made
Bob Gallagher of MGH Buildings and Grounds knows how to eat right — his wife is a nutritionist after all. But he didn't always eat the way he knew that he should, especially when he was at work and didn't have his wife's advice. That all changed when Gallagher joined the hospital's Be Fit program last January as part of the first phase of the comprehensive nutrition and exercise initiative.
  • Be Fit Survivors Club continues to grow
MGHers from the Cancer Center, Radiology, Cardiology, Research, Police and Security and the X-halers team — MGHers who want to quit smoking — officially became Be Fit survivors Nov. 29 after graduating from Phase III of the program.
  • Daily exercise helps Be Fitters stay healthy
A group of Be Fit “survivors” braved the cold weather and took to the streets Dec. 1 to participate in the daily “Be Fit Survivor Walk,” in a commitment to remain dedicated to a healthy lifestyle and exercise program.
  • Everyone is a winner with the United Way campaign
While the real winners of the 2005 MGH United Way campaign are the people who will be served by the nearly $336,000 raised to date, many MGHers received prizes in a number of raffles held for employees who pledged to the campaign.
  • MGH Surgery awards shining STARS
“STAR” employees from MGH Surgery were honored at the third annual STAR — Surgery Tribute and Recognition — luncheon held Nov. 29 as thanks for shining performances throughout the department. The peer-nominated STAR program recognizes nonphysician employees in the department for their outstanding work, commitment and contributions.
