United Way information tables
The MGH United Way campaign will begin Oct. 25 with a kickoff celebration from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm under the Bulfinch tent. Information tables will be set up Oct. 18, 20 and 27, from 6:30 to 8:30 am and 11:30 am to 1:30 pm in the Main Corridor. Tables also will be located outside the East Garden Dining Room and outside the Riverside Cafe in the Yawkey Center from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Information about the campaign and pledge cards will be available.

Women's Cancers Awareness fair
The MGH Cancer Center will host a Women's Cancers Awareness fair Oct. 21, from 10 am to 2 pm under the Bulfinch tent. Learn about prevention, early detection and treatment of the most common cancers affecting women today.

North End Children's Center accepting enrollment
In honor of the North End Community Health Center's 35th anniversary next year, the North End Children's Center at the North End Health Center now is accepting enrollment for toddler and pre-school-age children. The cost is $240 per week for toddlers and $215 per week for pre-school-age children. MGH employees who enroll their child before Dec. 31 will receive two months free after completing

Call for mentoring awards nominations
The Office for Diversity and Community Partnership at Harvard Medical School (HMS) now is accepting nominations for the 2005 A. Clifford Barger Excellence in Mentoring Award, William Silen Lifetime Achievement in Mentoring Award and the Young Mentor Award. Any HMS faculty member who has provided sponsorship, encouragement and support for the career and/or personal development of faculty, fellows, house officers and students can be nominated. Pastoral Care Week
In celebration of Pastoral Care Week, the MGH Chaplaincy will sponsor an information table Oct. 18, from 11 am to 1 pm in the Main Corridor. A lecture by Brita Gill-Austern, MDiv, PhD, of Andover Newton Theological School, will be held Oct. 19, from 10 am to 1 pm in the Walcott Conference Rooms. MGH Chaplaincy also will offer the "Blessing of the Hands" ceremony Oct. 20, from 6:30 to 8 am, 11:30 am to 1 pm and 3 to 5 pm in the MGH Chapel. All patients, families, staff, visitors and volunteers are invited to take part in this ceremony. For more information, call (617) 726-2220.

Anxiety disorders program
The MGH Mood and Anxiety Disorders Institute will host a community education program "Understanding Anxiety Disorders" Oct. 29, from 8:45 am to noon in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. This program is for anyone interested in or affected by anxiety disorders, including patients, families, friends and caregivers. Pre-registration is required. MGH Chaplaincy Jewish High Holy Days
The MGH Chaplaincy will hold services Oct. 20, from 10:30 to 11 am as part of Yamim Nora'im 5766 — the Jewish High Holy Days. Challah, grape juice and snacks will be served at the service. For more information, call Rabbi Ben Lanckton at (617) 724-3228.

LADDERS autism conference
The LADDERS — Learning and Developmental Disabilities Evaluation and Rehabilitation Services — program and MassGeneral Hospital for Children will host the 11th annual "Current Trends in Autism" conference Oct. 28 to 29 at the Hilton Boston/Dedham. The conference will present the most up-to-date information in the field of autism to parents and professionals concerned about children, adolescents and adults whose diagnosis falls along the autism spectrum.
